Just recently I went on a weekend getaway to Timber Cove Resort on the Sonoma Coast in Northern California. I had stayed there once before about two years ago and fell in love with it. Since my initial visit, the hotel came under new ownership that made a significant investment in renovating it. The new owners did an amazing job incorporating modern and retro elements in their renovation and blending the design into the surrounding landscape.
Timber Cove Resort Location
Timber Cove Resort is located on highway 1 within a 2.5 hour drive of the San Francisco Bay Area, making for a perfect weekend getaway for Bay Area residents. The resort is perched on a rugged coastal bluff and sits on 25 acres of beautiful coastline. It provides stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and majestic cypress and redwood trees. The property has miles of both forest and seaside hiking trails that provide great opportunities to view coastal wildlife.
Sonoma Coast / Timber Cove Resort Food & Wine
Being that the Sonoma Coast is home to 400 award-winning wineries, Timber Cove is a great destination for those who love incredible wine. It’s also a great destination for “foodies”. The Coast Kitchen at Timber Cove serves amazing local, organic, and seasonal seasonal dishes that impress even the most discerning of pallets. It provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner service and is absolutely delicious. I was fortunate to have dinner in its Hirsch Room, a private dining room for up to 13 guests.
Timber Cove Resort Activities
Timber Cove Resort’s great location provides for ample offsite activities, though the hotel has lots to offer onsite. Each room/suite is equipped with a vintage Crosley record player and the hotel has a record library in the lobby. The hotel has a bocce court, ping pong table, foosball table, and fitness center. It also offers wine tasting and various outdoor fireplace patios with ocean views.
